Jack.

This was a personal project I took on in my 2nd year of University for a term: it was a documentary series around my Grandad, Jack.

My Grandad moved from his hometown of Sheffield to live with us in 2009 because he had alzheimer's and needed full time care. Alzheimer's is a type of dementia causing forgetfulness, and confusion. He started to get confused with where he was, and would reguarly ask when he is going "home" as he would always believe he was only staying with us for a couple of days holiday. His timings would be muddled up, meaning he would wake us up in the early hours of the morning, fully dressed, ready for the day ahead. He always took great pride in his appearance, and would always visit Marks & Spencer's to buy new shirts and ties: building a huge collection, we would normally find duplicates in his cupboard. He would also constantly ask for my Nannan, who passed away in 2005, and we sadly had to remind him that she wasn't here anymore.

Jack passed away in 2013, however, even having this type of dementia, my Grandad remained a gentleman: who never lost his manners, wisdom and happy spirit. He was always a pleasure to be with, even if we needed to constanly answer his questions and reassure him.
